NOSH-TALGIA: HOW DID WE GET HERE?

We’re spending a weekend eating, drinking, chatting discussing all things Irish food at The Circular as we try to answer the question, how did we get here?

Along with some of the best in the business, we’ll be taking a nosh-talgic look back at Irish food & drink with brunch, banter, beers, wines, tastings, live podcasts and loads more across the weekend.

Grub & Gargle takes place at The Circular on Sat 16th and Sun 17th October 2021.

SATURDAY 16 OCTOBER

1-3PM: BRUNCH & BANTER

Join us for brunch & mimosas at Daddy’s followed by a panel discussion on The Evolution of Irish Brunch: we’ll be taking a nostalgic look back at how and when we all got brunch obsessed with chef Jess Murphy, Colm Keane from Daddy’s Cafe and food writer Aoife Carrigy.

3:30 - 4:30PM: BUSINESS OF BEVERAGES PODCAST LIVE WITH PADRAIG FOX & WILL KEATING

Join us for a live recording of the brilliant Business of Beverages podcast with hosts & beer experts Padraig Fox & Will Keating. They will be discussing 'From Promo to Pub' with a panel of guests who did just that, went from club nights and promo to owning pubs & food businesses.

5 - 6PM: HOW DID WE GET BEER? FROM PINTS OF PLAIN TO IPA’S WE CHART THE EVOLUTION OF IRISH CRAFT BEERS (WITH TASTERS!)

For this talk and tasting it's all about the evolution of Irish craft beers. We’re joined by Beer Sommelier, Publican, Brewer & drinks lecturer Judith Boyle and two of Dublin's most exciting craft brewers; Lynsey Campbell of Whiplash and Cathal O’Donoghue of Rascal's Brewing.

6:30 - 7:30PM: BRIDEY’S WINE CHATS LIVE - CULT DRINKS EDITION

We’re joined by the brilliant Brigid O’Hora of Bridey’s Wine Chats for a fun and irreverent tasting and maybe even a takedown of drinks that have amassed a cult following. From Buckfast to Bend in the River and a few more in between!

3 - 4PM: THE CREEP DIVE LIVE: MURDER ON THE MENU

Cordon Bleu meets crime, mystery and murder as the weird and wonderful Creep Dive hosts Sophie White, Jen O’Dwyer & Cassie Delaney discuss times when food and drink have played a helping hand for murders & crime...

4:30 - 5:30PM: FROM BLACK TOWER TO BIODYNAMICS, THE DUBLIN WINE SCENE FROM THE 1970S TO NOW

We’ve come a long way from bottles of Blue Nun, Dublin now has one of the most buzzing wine scene’s around but how did we get here? We chart the journey of the wine scene from the 1970s from now with Irish Times wine writer John Wilson, sommelier Tara Deery and Brian McMahon from Brand New Retro.

6 - 7PM: BAILE ATHA BRAZIL; TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BUZZING BRAZILIAN FOOD AND DRINK SCENE IN DUBLIN

Dublin by way of Rio de Janeiro, we take a closer looking at the buzzing Brazilian food and drink scene in Dublin chatting with chef Pedro Ferraz, Hopfully Brewing and Giselle Makinde chef & founder of Cream of The Crop Gelato.
